To Market ... To Market

Well it's Friday market show and tell, but this week I have only been able to do bisque firings, as my elements need replacing and I'm waiting on them to arrive from the mainland. I have heaps and heaps of new work and samples waiting to go into the kiln, but they will have to wait.

But I have made some new drop earrings to match the necklace, as the other pair sold very quickly. I am working on a new line of jewellery with these earrings in mind, as they are really lovely

A New Year

This year is an exciting time for magoolie designs. There will be a make-over of all the existing presentation tags. New ideas and new pieces will also be making their way onto the stands. This week I have been working on some new fresh designs for the label. Rather than release them all at once, I have enough ideas for the whole year!!! I just hope that they all turn out.

Sometimes I have an idea, and I make the sample and once it comes out of the kiln it doesn't quite look right, or hang right, or sit right..... so back to the drawing board. Sometimes it can take a few weeks for a new item to be realised, and sometimes a few months worth of tweaking is involved. Sometimes it doesn't even make it into the range at all. After I have made my samples I always try them out at local markets first to guage interest and get feedback. If everything turns out well....then it's off to make some more and contact my wholesalers to tell them the good news.

Loving Lustre

I did a little experiment yesterday.

I am hoping to release a new line of pieces.

Usually I don't glaze the Porcelain, but these pieces will be glazed with a gloss glaze and highlighted with Gold or Platinum Lustre.

It means that alot more processes are involved, and it's more time consuming, but I think it will be worth it.

Here are some sample pieces that I made with a Gold Lustre, just to see how it would turn out.

I am also thinking of introducing some black, by dyeing the Porcelain with an oxide before firing.

Now I just have to decide exactly what to make.

The Eastside Makers Market 6th June

This will be my first time attendance at this Market, and I'm looking forward to meeting new people.

The earrings are a flower shape, on a Sterling Silver Hoop.

Lot's of people love the squares and most can't decide on which colour to get, so with these I have put a different coloured pattern on each side, so they can be turned around for a different look!

I have been working on some new designs.For quite a while I have been wanting to make a Porcelain Ring,

but was concerned about making the ring piece in porcelain, as it does get banged around alot, and was worried about it breaking.

I thought of a few other options like silver etc...

Eventually I decided on FELT...

Yes Felt

I have felted some Merino Tops into a ring and then sewed the Porcelain piece on top.

They are light, comfortable and keep your finger warm!!!

The felted part is available in a range of different colours, with the Porcelain piece also available in different prints and shapes.

I will be releasing them on Sunday at the Market at Moorilla Vineyard.

The Beach Market

The Xmas Beach Market was great!!

I completely SOLD OUT of my French Bistro Mugs & Glace Bowls.

The Mini Porcelain Angels were very popular, as were the custom Angels.

Also, keep an eye out for people wearing my Porcelain Brooches & Earrings, as they too were very popular.

Now all I have to do is finish my last batch of custom orders, before having a long earned break over Xmas.

Xmas Market

WOW

I took my Xmas Range - Felt Balls & Hearts, Porcelain Angels, Sequined Puddings, Paper Garlands, as well as my French Bistro Range and new Porcelain Jewellery Range to The Market on Sunday, and was overwhelmed with the response. I sold nearly all the felt balls, 5 large bowls full of mini porcelain angels, heaps of orders for custom angels, and a fabulous amount of jewellery. I was so happy!!!

It's nice to know that others like what you make.

I will be busy over the next few weeks, making more Porcelain Angels, filling custom orders etc...

Kiln

I ordered a mini porcelain kiln, before I went on holidays, and was very excited when it finally arrived.

Unfortunately when I unpacked the kiln there was a massive crack right through the inside lining.

I rang the lovely lady at Woodrow Kilns, so now the kiln has been packed back up, and heading back to Woodrow to be pulled apart, new lining and rebuilt.

So now I will have to try and wait patiently for another few weeks for it to come back.

When it finally does come back, I will be able to start firing my porcelain Xmas Decoration range, and also some jewellery pieces.

The Market

I released my French Bistro Range to the public at The Market on Sunday and had a magnificent response.

Everybody LOVED the glaze effect and I sold all the

Cafe Mugs and Nouilles Bowls.

A few Galleries & Shops also expressed an interest in stocking The French Bistro Range & Dolls, which was great.

It's nice to know that other people love the things that I have designed and enjoyed making.

So now I will be busy for the next few weeks - madly making more and firing and glazing; as well as working on my new lines.
